The Assam Board of Wakfs is a State Level Statutory body which was constituted in August, 1957 by the Govt. of Assam as per Wakf Act 1954. This Act was amended several times till enactment of the New Wakf Act 1995 as amended by the Wakf (Amendment Act, 2013). The term of the present board will expire on 11th September, 2017. The board has at present under its control 181 Wakfs.
